Honor is lining up a serious challenge to Xiaomi in the flagship smartphone arena. Early test results for the Honor Magic 8, powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, have surfaced online—and they outpace the Xiaomi 17 Pro.
According to a screenshot shared by product manager Li Kun, the Honor Magic 8 scored more than 4.16 million points in AnTuTu V11, including 1.21 million for the CPU, 913,000 for the interface, 570,000 for memory, and 1.46 million for graphics. For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro posted 3.74 million in the same benchmark.
Despite the clear edge in raw figures, the Xiaomi 17 Pro drew far less battery during the test: a 2% drop versus 7% for the Magic 8. The Xiaomi device, however, ran hotter. The contrast is telling: headline performance and efficiency do not always move in lockstep.
These are early numbers from the latest AnTuTu V11 release, so results may shift after firmware optimization. The official debut of the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro is expected in October 2025. Beyond performance, the phones are slated to feature a 200‑megapixel telephoto camera and a refreshed design.
