The first leaks about the new One UI 9 have surfaced online. This upcoming version of Samsung's custom interface is built on Android 17. While One UI 8.5 is still in testing, internal builds are already showing early signs of the future update. The official release is expected to arrive around mid-2026 alongside new Galaxy Z foldable smartphones.
At first glance, the changes appear mostly cosmetic. The interface retains the floating control elements introduced in version 8.5, but the background images and some graphical details have been modernized. The top of the screen now features two prominent buttons—a back arrow and an overflow menu—making navigation more focused.
According to the leaks, the main innovations are centered on the Samsung Internet browser. Early builds reveal a new "Compact" mode designed for a more immersive interface. The bottom control panel has been redesigned, combining search, tab list, menu, and a new "Ask AI" button. This button could become the standout feature of One UI 9.
The function reportedly runs on Perplexity AI and can analyze page content in context rather than just summarizing it. Users will be able to ask questions about the current material, compare product prices, or extract key takeaways from long texts. Responses appear in a dialogue format, and query history can be managed with privacy in mind. Initially, the feature is expected to be available only on flagship devices with Galaxy AI support.
If the leak proves accurate, One UI 9 will mark a step toward deeper integration of artificial intelligence into everyday scenarios. Samsung Internet could evolve from a Chrome alternative into a full-fledged intelligent tool for content interaction.
