Xiaomi 17T series development accelerated with new specs

Information has surfaced online suggesting that Xiaomi has accelerated development of its 17T smartphone series. According to a source in Chinese social media, the pace of preparing these new models is notably faster than last year's schedule—approximately four months ahead compared to the previous generation.

The standard Xiaomi 17T is reported to carry the index 2602DPT53G and internal designation P12A, while the Pro version uses 2602EPTC0G and P12U. The devices' codenames are Chagall and Warhol, named after famous artists. The company is said to no longer use a shared platform and design for the T-series and related models under the REDMI brand, effectively separating the product lines.

In terms of specifications, no major changes to the cameras are expected—the focus is on performance and battery life. Rumors indicate the base Xiaomi 17T will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, with the Pro version getting the more powerful Dimensity 9500. Increases in battery capacity and overall energy efficiency are also anticipated.

For comparison, last year's 15T series launched in September and was equipped with Dimensity 8400U and 9400+ chips, along with cameras featuring Leica optics. Based on the leaks, Xiaomi appears to be maintaining the T-series positioning as a performance-focused solution that balances power and price, while speeding up its update cycle.
