Intel appears to be preparing to revise the launch timeline for one of the most anticipated desktop processor lineups—Nova Lake-S. According to insider Golden Pig Upgrade, the release, previously expected sooner, may now be pushed back to 2027. If this information is confirmed, it would signal another slowdown in the consumer PC segment.
Nova Lake-S was meant to be a crucial step for Intel in its competition with AMD. The lineup was expected to bring significant architectural changes, new core configurations, the use of bLLC cache tiles, and a notable increase in power consumption to achieve maximum performance. Based on preliminary leaks, the performance gains could exceed 10% in single-threaded tasks and reach up to 60% in multi-threaded scenarios, potentially securing leadership in gaming benchmarks.
The reasons for the possible delay have not been officially stated, but analysts link it to a reallocation of resources. Intel is facing high demand for its Xeon server processors and AI solutions, which is putting pressure on production capacity. In this situation, the company might prioritize the corporate and AI segments, deferring aggressive updates for gamers.
Interestingly, similar signals are emerging from AMD. Its upcoming desktop processors, codenamed Olympic Ridge under the Zen 6 architecture, are also rumored to be shifting closer to 2027. This could indicate a broader cooling-off period in the industry, as major players reassess their strategies amid market uncertainty and growing demand for AI solutions.
