The Galaxy S21 FE's update to One UI 8.5 is now in doubt. According to Samsung India's support team, there's a chance the device might not receive the new interface version, though this information hasn't been officially confirmed. This response came after a user inquiry and has sparked discussion among smartphone owners. Experts point out that support representatives often lack precise information about future updates. Historically, Samsung has released all minor One UI versions for devices that received the base Android version, making it unlikely the company would abruptly change this practice.
The support representative also noted that the Galaxy S21 FE will receive security updates at least until January 2027. Even if One UI 8.5 doesn't arrive for this model, security patches will continue, keeping the device relevant for users.
Samsung has recently shifted its approach to minor updates, starting with One UI 7, by skipping intermediate versions and moving directly to new major releases. After One UI 8 should come version 8.5, followed by One UI 9, which has already seen leaks for some Galaxy models.
For now, there's no official release of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S21 FE, with its arrival expected no earlier than March, after the Galaxy S26 series goes on sale. Device owners must wait for official announcements from Samsung to learn whether their smartphone will get the new interface update.
