iQOO 15R: affordable flagship with 144Hz display and 7600 mAh battery

iQOO has officially launched the iQOO 15R smartphone in India, positioning it as a more affordable option below the base iQOO 15 in its flagship lineup. The new device targets users who rely heavily on their phones for work, gaming, and multimedia, focusing on high performance, long battery life, and comfort during extended use.

At its core is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, built on a 3nm process. It pairs with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. A dedicated SuperComputing Chip Q2 helps maintain stable frame rates up to 144 fps in games and supports enhanced 1.5K resolution for gaming rendering. For cooling, the phone features a 6.5K IceCore VC vapor chamber and a dual-layer graphite heat sink, designed to sustain performance during long gaming sessions.

The iQOO 15R sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel supports local peak brightness up to 5,000 nits and is protected by Schott Xensation Alpha glass. Despite housing a large 7,600 mAh silicon-anode battery, the body measures just 7.9mm thick in the Dark Knight variant and 8.1mm in Triumph Silver. It supports 100W wired fast charging and includes bypass charging technology to reduce heat buildup while gaming.

For photography, the main camera setup includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700V sensor with optical image stabilization, alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 32-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls. The phone can record 4K video at 60 frames per second with stabilization. It runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, with the manufacturer promising four years of OS updates and six years of security patches.

Pricing for the iQOO 15R starts at around $495 for the 8/256GB version, $530 for 12/256GB, and $585 for the 12/512GB configuration. Pre-orders opened on February 24, with sales beginning March 3 through iQOO's official online store and various e-commerce platforms.
