Realme has revised its update policy for the Realme 16 Pro series, significantly extending the software support period for these smartphones. This updated approach applies to both models in the lineup, making them more appealing to users who prioritize long-term device usage.
Under the new terms, the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ will receive four major Android updates and six years of security patches. This marks a notable improvement from the initial promise of three Android versions and four years of security updates, representing a significant step forward for mid-range devices.
Both smartphones ship with Realme UI 7 based on Android 16, which means they could potentially be supported up to Android 20. Security updates for the series are expected to continue until around 2032. Realme explains that this reflects the brand's new strategy focused on enhancing the long-term value of its devices.
This decision isn't an isolated one. The company has previously extended support periods for certain models in the Realme 14, Realme 15, P3, and P4 series. This approach brings Realme closer to competitors who already offer extended update commitments even outside the flagship segment.
With powerful specifications, large batteries, and now confirmed long-term support, the Realme 16 Pro series becomes a more compelling choice for users who care not just about hardware and price, but also about keeping their smartphone relevant for years to come.
