Apple foldable iPhone may feature minimal crease and new design

According to insider reports, Apple is nearing a solution to one of the main issues with foldable smartphones: the visible crease on the display. A new leak suggests that a future foldable iPhone could feature a crease depth of less than 0.15 mm and a bend angle under 2.5 degrees. If confirmed, this would position it among the industry's best performers.

Currently, even advanced models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have a crease that remains noticeable under certain lighting and can be felt with the fingers. Apple is said to have delayed entering the market until achieving a more refined solution. The sub-0.15 mm figure is close to the thickness of a human hair, making the fold nearly invisible in daily use.

Reports indicate that Samsung Display is producing the device's screen using new materials and enhanced lamination technology. This helps distribute stress more evenly in the hinge area and minimize panel deformation. In practice, this means Apple aims not just to catch up with competitors but to set a new quality standard for foldable devices.

Details have also emerged about the smartphone's design. The camera module may adopt a minimalist style with two sensors: a main and an ultrawide. Instead of Face ID, the company is reportedly considering bringing back Touch ID in the power button to save internal space. Rumors suggest production is already being prepared, with a potential release in fall 2026—likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
