Honor and OPPO tease foldable smartphones with nearly invisible crease

The visible crease on foldable smartphone displays remains one of the main challenges for this category, but 2026 could bring significant improvements. OPPO and Honor have begun actively teasing new models that they claim nearly eliminate the visible fold line. The upcoming Honor Magic V6 and OPPO Find N6, expected to launch in the coming weeks, are at the center of these claims.

Honor was first to share details. Company executive Wang Fei posted images showing a device where the crease on the inner display is practically invisible. The brand also hinted at using a new hinge design called Super Steel Hinge, which is said to enhance the mechanism's durability. Importantly, Honor emphasizes that these improvements haven't compromised the device's thickness, battery life, or water and dust resistance—the phone carries an IP68/69 rating.

OPPO, for its part, released behind-the-scenes footage of the Find N6 production line. The video shows a device that has undergone approximately 170,000 folding cycles on an automated test rig, with no visible crease apparent on the display. Since the fold line typically becomes more pronounced over time in foldable smartphones, these claims appear particularly ambitious.

However, final judgments will only be possible after hands-on testing and independent reviews. The Honor Magic V6 will debut on March 1 at MWC, while OPPO has yet to officially confirm a launch date for the Find N6. If both companies deliver on their promises, 2026 could mark a turning point for the foldable device segment.
