Xiaomi 17 Ultra international model features Leica camera and design tweaks

The international version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, called the LEICA LEITZPHONE powered by Xiaomi, debuted at MWC 2026. This special edition is aimed at markets outside China and differs from the Chinese Leica version with several design and technical tweaks. It will be sold in a single configuration with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for 1,999 euros.

Visually, the smartphone features redesigned styling elements. The Leica logo on the upper back panel has shifted from a horizontal to a vertical orientation, and the Xiaomi branding has also moved and now runs vertically. A ribbed frame adds a signature "LEICA CAMERA GERMANY" engraving, highlighting the collaboration between the brands. The device keeps the mechanical "Master Zoom Ring," which allows quick adjustment of exposure, zoom, and focus.

The camera remains the phone's standout feature. The main module is built around a 1-inch LOFIC sensor with expanded dynamic range, co-developed with Leica. The telephoto camera uses a 200-megapixel Leica APO lens with optical zoom ranging from 75 to 100 mm. A shooting mode known as "Leica Moment" in the Chinese version has been renamed to Essential Mode for the international model. Filters that mimic the legendary Leica M9 and M3 cameras are also available.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Battery capacity has been reduced compared to the Chinese version—down to 6,000 mAh from 6,800 mAh—though it supports 90 W fast charging. Despite the smaller battery, the device maintains its status as one of the most technologically advanced camera phones on the market.
