Signeo Design International has officially launched the new Nakamichi Elite Pro P800JP open-back planar magnetic headphones, drawing inspiration from the brand's classic heritage in high-quality audio. These headphones are aimed at audiophiles who value natural sound reproduction, a wide frequency range, and stationary music listening.
The historic Nakamichi brand, founded in Japan in 1948 and famous for its Hi-Fi cassette decks, ceased independent operations in the early 2000s. Today, the brand is owned by Signeo Design International, which is gradually reintroducing the Nakamichi name into the premium audio segment.
The Elite Pro P800JP features 80mm planar magnetic drivers that deliver smooth and detailed sound across a frequency range from 10 Hz to 60 kHz. With an impedance of 32 ohms, sensitivity of 100 dB, and maximum power handling of 30 mW, these headphones are compatible with desktop DACs and amplifiers.
The package includes a removable 4.4mm balanced cable with mini-XLR connectors. This cable is made from 4N oxygen-free copper and features a triple-shielded structure to reduce electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. The headphone housing is crafted from aluminum, and the overall weight is 710 grams—a typical figure for large-format planar magnetic models.
Sales of the Nakamichi Elite Pro P800JP have begun in Japan at a price of 127,998 yen (approximately $820 USD). The headphones are already available in select specialized stores. International availability has not been confirmed yet, making the model rare outside Japan.
