Apple has announced a new iPad Air powered by the Apple M4 chip, which delivers up to 30% higher performance compared to the previous M3-based model and is 2.3 times faster than the M1. This new chip accelerates video editing, graphics, and AI applications, making the iPad Air a powerful tool for both education and creative work.
The iPad Air now features increased unified memory up to 12 GB, with memory bandwidth rising to 120 GB/s. Its 16-core Neural Engine handles AI tasks quickly, including object detection in photos and work with Apple Creator Studio apps. The new model supports iPadOS 26, which introduces a windowing system, an enhanced Files app, and functionality for working with PDFs and images using the Apple Pencil.
The device comes in two sizes—11 inches and 13 inches—with four color options. It supports advanced connectivity through N1 and C1X chips, providing Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and 5G, along with high data transfer speeds and low power consumption.
The new iPad Air is compatible with Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories, offering users expanded creative and productivity capabilities. The keyboard includes a built-in trackpad, function keys, and magnetic attachment, while the Apple Pencil Pro supports advanced editing and content management features.
The M4-powered iPad Air starts at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch version. Pre-orders open on March 4, with sales beginning on March 11, 2026, in many countries through Apple Store and authorized dealers.
