Apple has unveiled updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring the new Apple M5 Pro and Apple M5 Max processors. The company is focusing on artificial intelligence, enhanced graphics performance, and faster storage, positioning these as the most powerful professional laptops in its lineup.
Both chips are built on the new Fusion Architecture and feature an 18-core CPU with six "super cores" and 12 performance cores. The GPU integrates neural accelerators, which can speed up AI tasks by up to 4 times compared to the previous generation and up to 8 times compared to M1-based models. These laptops are aimed at developers, engineers, AI researchers, and graphics professionals.
Configurations offer up to 64 GB of unified memory for the M5 Pro, with bandwidth up to 307 GB/s, and up to 128 GB for the M5 Max, reaching up to 614 GB/s. SSD speeds have increased to 14.5 GB/s, up to twice as fast as the last generation. Base storage now starts at 1 TB for M5 Pro versions and 2 TB for M5 Max models.
The MacBook Pro supports up to four external displays in the Max version, equipped with three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI supporting video output up to 8K resolution, an SDXC slot, and a MagSafe 3 connector. It also boasts Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 thanks to the proprietary N1 chip, up to 24 hours of battery life, and fast charging to 50% in 30 minutes.
This laptop features a Liquid Retina XDR display with HDR peak brightness up to 1600 nits and an option for nano-texture coating, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, studio microphones, and a six-channel audio system with spatial sound support. The device runs on macOS Tahoe with updated Apple Intelligence features.
Pre-orders start on March 4, with sales beginning on March 11. The 14-inch version with M5 Pro starts at $2,199, while the 16-inch version starts at $2,699. Versions with the M5 Max start at $3,599. Models are available in black and silver colors.
