Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1 stable version released with Android 16 base

Xiaomi has officially begun rolling out the stable version of Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1 after several weeks of beta testing. This new build is based on Android 16 and focuses on improving system stability, optimizing the interface, and fixing accumulated bugs. Initially, the update is available in China for the Xiaomi 17 (OS3.0.301.0.WPCCNXM), Xiaomi 17 Pro (OS3.0.301.0.WBLCNXM), Xiaomi 17 Pro Max (OS3.0.301.0.WPBCNXM), and Redmi K90 Pro Max (OS3.0.301.0.WPMCNXM). Over the coming weeks, the company plans to expand the list of supported devices and start the international rollout of the firmware.

The update transitions devices from the beta version to the official stable build, which means some test features may no longer be available. In practice, this matters because the system has received a series of targeted fixes. These include optimized navigation bar display, resolved crashes during system data exchange and handwriting note operations, corrected location detection errors, and fixed file download issues in third-party apps. Additionally, problems with encrypting personal files in app clones, rare cases of SIM card recognition failures, intermittent wireless headphone connectivity, and incorrect file opening in dual-app mode have been addressed.

For users, the interface feels smoother thanks to an updated launcher with support for stacking recent tasks. The Gallery and Weather apps have been redesigned using Rust, enhancing their stability and responsiveness. This detail highlights Xiaomi's focus on performance improvements. Further fixes include eliminating delays in the smart assistant's operation and correcting network icon display in the status bar. Overall, the picture is straightforward: users will receive automatic notifications about the update's availability and can also check for it manually in their device settings.
