The first details about the upcoming iQOO 16 flagship have started appearing online. According to Chinese insider Smart Pikachu, the device is already being tested with a 200-megapixel main camera. This would be a significant upgrade from the previous iQOO 15 model, which featured a 50-megapixel main sensor. Meanwhile, the new smartphone is said to retain a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera similar to its predecessor.
Interestingly, the upcoming OnePlus 16 may get a similar camera configuration. The same source reports that device is also being tested with a 200-megapixel main sensor and 50-megapixel periscope camera. For comparison, the current OnePlus 15 uses 50-megapixel sensors for both its main camera and periscope module.
Beyond cameras, leaks mention display improvements for the future iQOO 16—screen resolution could increase from 1.5K to 2K. Other specifications remain unknown for now, but the flagship is expected to feature the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor and a higher-capacity battery.
A possible price increase is also being discussed. Earlier reports suggested future flagship smartphones based on 2nm processors could start at around 5,000 yuan (approximately $725). Since the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is rumored to be built on a 2nm process, the new iQOO 16 could fall within this price range. For context, the previous iQOO 15 started at 4,199 yuan. Now we wait for more leaks to reveal additional details about the upcoming device.
