Samsung has introduced a new security feature for its Galaxy smartphones called "Idle Auto-Reboot," which automatically restarts the device after 72 hours of continuous lock. Users report that this option appeared in the Galaxy S26 series following the February 2026 security update and is now accessible in the privacy settings section.
The feature aims to enhance personal data protection. If a phone remains locked for three days without consecutive unlock attempts, it will reboot automatically. To enable it, go to Settings, then Security and Privacy, and select Additional Security Options.
After an automatic reboot, the smartphone enters an enhanced protection mode. Until the password or biometric authentication is entered, certain functions are restricted: notifications from some apps are hidden, caller names are not displayed, and for receiving calls with an active SIM lock, unlocking the SIM card is required.
This move strengthens data security in cases of loss or theft. The reboot shifts the system to a safer state, making access to information more difficult until the owner re-authenticates.
