Google expands Android Auto with Call Screen and Call Notes

Google has announced an expansion of Android Auto, bringing the Call Screen and Call Notes features—previously reserved for Pixel phones—into the car. The update lets drivers filter calls and receive text notes while on the move, easing the mental load that often comes with driving.

With Call Screen, Android Auto can answer calls from unknown numbers on its own, asking the caller to state their name and the reason for reaching out. That information appears on the car’s display, so the driver can choose to accept or decline without breaking focus—a small but practical layer of control during busy drives.

Call Notes, which debuted with the Pixel 9 series, automatically generates a text summary of a phone conversation. In work or study scenarios where jotting things down isn’t practical, the system captures the key points in real time, helping keep important details from slipping through the cracks after a call on the road.

Call Screen is expected to roll out soon, while Call Notes will arrive on Android Auto later this year. Together, they align with Google’s push to make in-car phone use safer and more convenient—an approach that feels both timely and sensible.
