Development of Android 17 is gaining momentum. Google has already released two beta versions in a short timeframe, and thanks to an updated development cycle, the final release is expected in the second quarter of 2026. Owners of compatible Pixel devices can install the test build now and try out new features early.
The list of smartphones and devices set to receive Android 17 includes the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10a, along with the Pixel 9 lineup—the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, and 9a. The update is also confirmed for the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and the Pixel 7 series—the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, and 7a. Additionally, Android 17 will be available for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a.
However, the Pixel 10a is not yet included in the official beta program list. This is likely because the model launched after Android 17 Beta 2 was released, and Google simply hasn't updated the roster yet. The device is expected to gain support in the next beta version. For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the update to Android 17 will be their last major update—official support for these models ends in October. Still, devices that launched with Android 12 will ultimately receive five generations of the operating system, which remains one of the best records among Android smartphones.
The first Android 17 beta debuted on February 13, quickly followed by a second build. In March, the platform stability phase begins, finalizing APIs and system behavior for developers. The stable version of Android 17 is anticipated to launch in June 2026.
