Xiaomi to end Android and HyperOS updates for many devices in 2026

Xiaomi is preparing to wind down support for a broad lineup of devices: starting in 2026 they will stop receiving major Android updates, new HyperOS releases, and even security patches. Many models won’t make it to HyperOS 3, and some still haven’t received HyperOS 2 based on Android 14.

Entering the final stretch of their life cycle are the flagship Mi 11, Xiaomi 11, Xiaomi 12 Lite, Xiaomi Civi and Mix lines; the foldable Mi MIX Fold; Pad 5 tablets; and the popular Redmi families Note 13, Note 12, Note 11, Redmi 12, 10 and A2, including Redmi Pad. POCO owners should note that the end of support will also cover the POCO F5, F4, X5, X4, M6, M5, M4 and C series, which makes them vulnerable without regular patches.

Most of these devices haven’t seen major upgrades for quite some time, and from 2026 they’ll be left without protection against emerging vulnerabilities. Users can keep their older phones, but the risk to personal data will grow. Experts advise considering a switch to newer Xiaomi models that now offer up to six years of support, giving more time to stay secure and enjoy new features. It’s a pointed reminder that software longevity can matter as much as the spec sheet.
