Tesla Model Y Juniper update adds Comfort Braking feature

According to SPEEDME.RU, Tesla has released software update 2026.8, introducing a new feature for the Model Y crossover. This feature is called Comfort Braking, a system designed to make the vehicle's stop smoother and more gradual. However, this new capability is exclusive to the updated Model Y Juniper, which belongs to the 2026 model year and newer versions.

Tesla explains that the algorithm adjusts the car's behavior during the final phase of braking, smoothing out deceleration just before coming to a complete stop. This detail matters because it reduces the abruptness of braking. The company expects this to enhance comfort for both drivers and passengers during typical city driving.

Interestingly, Tesla does not clarify why such a function was necessary. Many Model Y owners frequently use regenerative braking, which means the traditional brake pedal sees less use. Despite this, Tesla has chosen to further optimize the vehicle's stopping behavior.

Like other brand innovations, this feature is distributed via over-the-air (OTA) updates. In practice, this means Tesla can add new capabilities and refine vehicle performance without requiring owners to visit service centers. Overall, the picture is straightforward: while similar solutions were previously found only in premium models from German manufacturers, they are now available in newer, more affordable vehicles.
