Resident Evil Requiem sales exceed 6 million copies

Capcom has announced a new sales record for the Resident Evil series. The ninth installment, titled Resident Evil Requiem, has already sold more than six million copies, making it the fastest-selling release in the history of the iconic horror franchise.

Earlier this month, the publisher reported selling five million copies in the first six days after release. However, the game's popularity continues to grow: less than two weeks after that milestone, total sales have exceeded six million. This pace makes Resident Evil Requiem the absolute franchise record-holder for sales speed.

The game has received a very warm reception from both critics and players. User reviews are among the highest for recent releases, and on Steam, the project maintains an "overwhelmingly positive" rating with an approval level of about 96 percent. Many note that the developers have combined the best ideas from recent series entries, creating a large-scale and tense survival-horror experience.

Capcom is also preparing additional content for the game and major events for the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, which will be celebrated on March 22, 2026. The company plans a major story expansion, new game modes, and themed events, including collaborations with Universal Studios Japan and orchestral concerts in Japan, the U.S., and Europe.
