BMW i3 reimagined as a powerful electric sports sedan

BMW has officially unveiled the new generation of its i3 electric vehicle, completely reimagining the model's concept. Where the previous i3 was a compact city hatchback, the new model is a full-fledged sports sedan. Its design and characteristics bring it closer to an M3, but without the controversial styling elements.

The newcomer is built on the Neue Klasse platform and features a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive. In the 50 xDrive version, the electric car delivers 463 horsepower and 476 Nm of torque, placing it among the most powerful vehicles in its class. BMW is focusing not just on performance but also on efficiency, with a claimed range of approximately 710 km according to the EPA standard.

A key feature is the fast-charging capability, supporting up to 400 kW, which significantly reduces energy replenishment time. The battery is integrated into the body, improving structural rigidity and reducing weight. Furthermore, the vehicle supports bidirectional charging, allowing it to serve as a power source for a home or other devices.

The interior boasts a futuristic design with a panoramic 17.9-inch display, a 3D-effect projection system, and an AI-supported voice assistant. A digital key system is also implemented, while the controls blend classic buttons with touch-sensitive elements. Production of the new i3 will begin in August 2026, with sales starting in the autumn. The model's price has not yet been revealed.
