Xiaomi is pushing forward with its automotive ambitions, unveiling an upgraded version of its SU7 electric sedan that features significant technological enhancements. At a spring presentation, company CEO Lei Jun highlighted that the new model boasts a completely redesigned electronic architecture with greater integration and computational power.
A key update is the introduction of a new domain controller system, which consolidates multiple modules into a single unit. This approach enhances data processing efficiency and improves coordination between various vehicle systems, including controls, multimedia, and driver-assistance functions.
The computational platform has received special attention. The updated SU7 combines a flagship mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, with a separate 4nm processor for autonomous driving systems, delivering up to 700 TOPS of performance. This move underscores Xiaomi's serious ambitions in intelligent driving and real-time data processing.
Connectivity has also been expanded, with support for dual 5G modems, Wi-Fi 7, UWB for contactless control, integration with IoT devices, and a built-in ETC module. Overall, these features emphasize Xiaomi's goal of transforming the SU7 from just an electric car into a comprehensive digital platform on wheels.
