Xiaomi Watch S5 smartwatch with health monitoring and car integration

Xiaomi has unveiled its new Watch S5 smartwatch generation, focusing on integration with the company's ecosystem and enhanced health monitoring capabilities. Positioned as a versatile solution for both sports and daily use, the device carries a starting price of 1,199 yuan.

Key upgrades include the sensors. The watch features a new system with four light sources and four photodiodes, which Xiaomi claims improves heart rate measurement accuracy to 98.4%. An updated sleep analysis algorithm now more precisely identifies sleep and wake phases. This is complemented by a bright 1.48-inch AMOLED display with high resolution and a peak brightness of up to 2,500 nits.

Significant emphasis is placed on sports functions and navigation. The device is equipped with a dual-frequency GPS module for enhanced accuracy and supports new training modes, including an advanced cycling mode that connects to third-party sensors. Meanwhile, battery life reaches 21 days, which remains one of the model's strong selling points.

Xiaomi is separately developing the watch's integration with cars and smart homes. The Watch S5 can interact with the brand's electric vehicles, displaying navigation and driving alerts directly on the wrist. Integration with smart locks is also implemented, allowing users to view images from a door camera. In practice, this means the device becomes part of Xiaomi's broader ecosystem, extending beyond typical fitness trackers.
