Android Auto not working after March update on Pixel phones

The March Android update has unexpectedly caused problems for Android Auto users, particularly those with Pixel smartphones. After installing the update, many found that the system would no longer launch when connected to their cars via cable.

The issue appears to stem from the Advanced Protection Mode feature introduced in Android 16. While this function enhances USB connection security, it sometimes blocks Android Auto from starting even when the device was previously added to the trusted list.

Users report that the system ignores settings that allow Android Auto to launch with a locked screen. This means the only workable solution is manually unlocking the smartphone each time it's connected, which significantly reduces convenience.

Google is aware of the problem and is gathering data to address it. For now, the situation remains unresolved, leaving Pixel owners to either accept temporary limitations or wait for a fix in the next system update.
