Leaked AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor details raise cache questions

A test sample of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor has surfaced online, spotted in the popular hardware verification utility CPU-Z. The screenshots show the model name, but details about the L3 cache raise questions: instead of the expected 192 MB, only "96 + 32 MB" is displayed. Previously, ASRock accidentally confirmed the existence of the first-ever Ryzen 9000X3D processor with dual cache, though the page was quickly removed. Now, the leak from CPU-Z has once again drawn attention to this new X3D model.

The discrepancy in cache characteristics, along with TDP readings (200 W compared to 170 W for the Ryzen 9 9950X3D), suggests either data inconsistencies or that CPU-Z cannot yet correctly identify the new chip. Experts believe this could be either a program error or an early engineering sample of the processor.

Nevertheless, there is confidence that AMD will soon officially unveil the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, given the numerous confirmations of its existence. The new release is poised to become the next flagship in the desktop Ryzen 9000 "Granite Ridge" series.
