Google Translate adds AI-powered pronunciation practice feature

Google is preparing a major update for its Google Translate mobile app on Android, introducing a new feature called Practice. This innovative capability uses artificial intelligence technology to help users improve their pronunciation while learning foreign languages.

According to Android Authority, the updated app version will be identified by the number 10.10.37.885563132.3. When the mode is activated, a word with multiple pronunciation options will appear on screen, prompting the user to speak their chosen option aloud.

The system automatically analyzes speech and assesses pronunciation accuracy. If errors or unclear pronunciation are detected, the app provides phonetic transcription and correction recommendations. Users can then try again for a new assessment. When voice recognition is hindered by external noise or other factors, the app suggests repeating the attempt to ensure proper feedback.

Currently, the Practice feature supports English and Spanish. The full list of languages for which the mode will be available in the future remains unknown. This new addition will enable users not only to translate words and phrases but also to actively practice pronunciation, receiving instant feedback to enhance their language skills.
