Samsung unveils Galaxy A57 with updated features and higher price

Samsung has unveiled the new mid-range Galaxy A57 smartphone, featuring an updated design, enhanced specifications, and expanded AI functions, though it comes at a higher price than its predecessor. The new model aims to continue the success of the popular Galaxy A5x series by offering a balance between performance and cost.

The smartphone is noticeably thinner and lighter, with a body thickness of just 6.9 mm and a weight of 179 grams. It boasts a metal frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both the front and back. The display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ with FHD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. The bezels have become thinner and more symmetrical, although the bottom part still stands out. Additionally, the model has gained IP68 protection for the first time in several years, replacing IP67.

At its core, the Galaxy A57 is powered by the new Exynos 1680 processor, complemented by a 13% larger vapor chamber for cooling. The smartphone is available with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and storage options of 128, 256, or 512 GB. The main camera setup includes a 50 MP primary sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide module, a 5 MP macro lens, and a 12 MP front-facing camera. The manufacturer has also improved image processing and night photography capabilities. Battery life is supported by a 5,000 mAh battery, and connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0.

The Galaxy A57 runs on Android 16 with the One UI 8.5 interface and includes a range of AI functions. These features encompass quick access to AI Select via Edge Panel, a voice-to-text conversion tool, an updated Circle to Search with multi-object recognition, and Gemini integration. The device also utilizes the new Bixby 4.0 assistant, which can manage settings and perform tasks using natural language commands.

Sales of the Galaxy A57 begin on April 10th. In Europe, the base version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage is priced at 529 euros, which is 50 euros more than the previous model. Despite the price increase, Samsung is banking on the improved design, performance, and features to maintain user interest in this popular lineup.
