Google has released the third beta of Android 17, marking a significant milestone in the platform's development. With this update, Android has reached platform stability, meaning key features and APIs are now finalized. This allows developers to actively prepare their apps for the final release.
The Android 17 Beta 3 update is available for Pixel devices starting from the Pixel 6 series, as well as for the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Participants in the testing program receive the update automatically over-the-air. Alongside new features, the system also includes the March security patch.
Notable additions include support for the RAW14 image format, which enables more precise photo processing, the ability to hide app labels on the home screen, and a redesigned screen recording panel. Widget performance on large displays has been improved, and more flexible audio routing settings have been added, particularly for hearing aids.
Android 17 is now on the final stretch. Google will focus on optimization and bug fixes ahead of the stable release. The final update is expected to arrive in June.
