New indirect signs suggest that the price of GTA VI may not be as high as players feared. The discussion stems from a recent interview with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, where he addressed monetization and advertising in games.
When asked about implementing ads, Zelnick emphasized that such practices are only appropriate in free-to-play projects. He stated that adding intrusive advertising to a game that users have already paid $70 or $80 for would be unfair. This approach indirectly hints at the price range for the company's future releases, including GTA VI.
Considering Take-Two's current pricing strategy, where recent major projects have launched at around $70, it's reasonable to expect GTA VI to fall within the $70–80 range. This is significantly lower than earlier scenarios that speculated a $100 price tag, which had concerned the audience.
At the same time, it's clear that the game will receive several expanded editions with additional content. Through these, the publisher is likely to increase the average sale by offering bonuses, cosmetic items, and in-game advantages for dedicated fans of the series.
Overall, the base version of GTA VI, based on current signals, should stay within industry norms, while more expensive editions will still allow the publisher to profit from the most devoted fans.
