Samsung is preparing a major debut: the Galaxy XR headset, previously known as Project Moohan, is finally nearing launch. According to Korean media, pre-registration is slated to begin on October 15, with the full presentation scheduled for October 21.
The timing aligns with Samsung’s usual approach. A week before an announcement, the company invites users to sign up so they can be first to place a preorder and receive bonuses. Specifics on gifts or discounts haven’t been disclosed, though past campaigns suggest early customers often receive credits or special offers.
Galaxy XR is the product of a partnership between Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google. The headset uses a Qualcomm chipset and runs on the new Android XR platform built for mixed reality. Samsung is responsible for design and manufacturing, a combination that should give the device a distinct character.
There’s no official price yet, but insiders expect a tag above $2,000, along with a limited initial rollout in select markets.
The launch matters not only for Samsung but for the broader Android ecosystem. It’s a bid to challenge Apple’s Vision Pro and to show the XR market isn’t confined to one company. The real test will be whether the headset justifies its price and captures mainstream interest; without standout content, even a powerful platform risks remaining a niche proposition.
