MediaTek is actively developing its new flagship chipset series, the Dimensity 9600, which includes the standard 9600 and the advanced 9600 Pro. Recent leaks from insider Digital Chat Station suggest the Pro version could deliver a significant performance leap, potentially rivaling desktop processors.
According to DCS, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will feature an unusual dual-core architecture with high-power cores. The overall configuration, likely 2+3+3, will allow the two main cores to handle resource-intensive tasks, offering unprecedented processing speed in mobile devices. The chip's peak frequency may reach 5 GHz, marking a new era for mobile performance.
The chipset is expected to be manufactured using TSMC's advanced 2nm N2P process, promising a 25–30% reduction in power consumption. Beyond raw performance, MediaTek plans to integrate enhanced AI capabilities, including Google's TPU technologies, which will improve energy efficiency in AI applications.
The Dimensity 9600 series may be split into multiple tiers. The base version will likely build on the improved Dimensity 9500+, while Pro and Pro Max models will get the 2nm architecture and maximum performance. These new chips are anticipated to power smartphones like the vivo X500 and OPPO Find X10 series, particularly in Pro Max variants, creating competition for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in the premium segment.
