Samsung has unexpectedly adjusted production plans for its Galaxy S26 lineup amid higher-than-anticipated demand. According to insiders, the company has increased the total monthly production volume for the series to 3 million units, roughly a quarter more than initial forecasts.
The base Galaxy S26 has shown particularly notable growth, suddenly becoming one of the most sought-after devices in the lineup. Originally, Samsung planned to produce around 800,000 of these smartphones in April, but that volume has now been raised to 1.3 million units. This indicates strong user interest in the more affordable flagship model.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26 Ultra remains the sales leader, accounting for 60–70% of total series demand. Production of the Ultra version has also been increased—to 1.5 million units per month. Thus, two-thirds of all S26 series smartphones produced are the flagship model.
Against this backdrop, Samsung has cut production of the Galaxy S26 Plus, reducing volumes by approximately 100,000 devices. The model likely proved less popular, trailing the base version in price and the Ultra in functionality.
For readers, this matters because the Galaxy S26's rising popularity stems from its balance of price and specs, while the Ultra attracts buyers with unique features, including a new "private display" that limits viewing angles. However, increased flagship production is already impacting the budget segment: the company is reducing output of Galaxy A series models due to rising component costs.
