Fostex unveils TH810 and TH818 premium headphones with BioDyna drivers

Fostex has unveiled two new premium full-size headphones, the TH810 and TH818, targeting audiophiles. The models differ in their design type: the TH810 features a closed-back format, while the TH818 is open-back, allowing users to choose based on their preferences.

Both new models share the same hardware platform as the flagship TH910 and TH919, but they come with more affordable acacia wood housings instead of lacquered Japanese maple. This approach helps reduce costs without significantly compromising sound quality.

At the core of these headphones are proprietary 50mm BioDyna drivers with an updated design. The manufacturer claims improved bass reproduction with less distortion and cleaner sound. The frequency range spans from 12.5 Hz to 40 kHz, with a sensitivity of 100 dB at 25 ohms impedance.

The housing utilizes a magnesium alloy, which has cut weight by about 20% compared to previous models. The headband is finished with genuine sheepskin leather, while the ear pads are made from synthetic leather based on silk proteins with multi-layered foam for enhanced comfort.

Fostex will begin shipping the TH810 and TH818 in late April 2026 through official distributors and online retailers. The starting price for these new models is expected to be around $1,000.
