Google Meet now available in Android Auto for audio meetings

Google has begun rolling out Google Meet support in Android Auto, just days after competitors introduced similar features in their automotive platforms. Users can now join video meetings directly from their car's screen, though the functionality is limited to audio-only.

The integration prioritizes driving safety. Android Auto doesn't support video calls or any interactive elements—only voice conferences are available. This means users can participate in meetings but can't view participants, share their screen, or use other visual features.

The app covers essential use cases: joining scheduled meetings via the "Scheduled" tab, making quick calls to contacts, and accessing call history. Connections start instantly, bypassing the usual confirmation screen found on smartphones or computers.

Call management is streamlined. The display shows only basic controls—mute/unmute and end call buttons. The system automatically switches calls between the phone and car based on Android Auto connectivity.

However, there are limitations. Work accounts aren't yet supported, which may prevent meeting history and upcoming events from displaying. For full functionality, Google recommends exiting Android Auto and using the smartphone app instead.
