ONEXPLAYER X2 Mini portable computer with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and 8.8-inch OLED screen

ONEXPLAYER has started teasing its new portable computer, the X2 Mini, which immediately caught attention due to its unusual combination of name and size. Despite the "Mini" suffix, the new device features a larger display than the existing OneXFly Apex. At its core is the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. So far, the company has revealed minimal details, confirming only the chip and an 8.8-inch OLED screen with landscape orientation. Other specifications and pricing remain unknown for now.

The X2 Mini will be ONEXPLAYER's second portable system based on the AMD Strix Halo platform. The company previously released the OneXFly Apex, available with either the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 or Ryzen AI Max 385. This means the new device doesn't replace the Apex but rather complements the lineup, offering an alternative form factor within the same performance segment.

Confusion stems from the device's name. The OneXFly Apex uses an 8-inch display, while the X2 Mini gets a larger 8.8-inch panel. In practice, this makes the "Mini" model actually sport a bigger screen than the current lineup device, setting the newcomer apart in the portable gaming PC market.

The X2 Mini comes with detachable controllers and supports keyboard connectivity, allowing it to function as a console, mini-laptop, or compact work display.

In terms of timing, the device's release overlaps with the Lenovo Legion Go 2, which also features an 8.8-inch display and targets the premium portable PC segment. If ONEXPLAYER can offer more competitive pricing, the X2 Mini could become a notable alternative in the market.
