According to leaks, Rockstar appears to be preparing physical releases of Red Dead Redemption for modern platforms. This includes a version for the PS5 and another for the Switch 2, which hasn't been officially announced yet but is already mentioned in insider reports.
Sources indicate the release is scheduled for May 7, 2026. Rumors first surfaced after a product page was spotted with a Spanish retailer, but subsequent checks suggest this is indeed a full physical release being prepared, and it's coming in two distinct forms.
The PlayStation 5 version will be a classic physical edition with a disc. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 variant will use a Code-in-a-Box format—buyers get a box, but inside is only a download code, with no cartridge. Interestingly, both versions are set to be cheaper than the digital release. Previously, the game sold for around €49.99, but these new editions are priced at €34.99, including the Undead Nightmare expansion, just like the digital version.
The pre-order start date remains unknown for now. However, the arrival of these editions could become one of the first major releases for the Switch 2 while also expanding Red Dead Redemption's audience on current platforms.
