Three years after the original Huawei Watch Buds debuted, Huawei is returning to one of the most unusual concepts in the wearable electronics market. The Huawei Watch Buds 2 will be unveiled on April 20 as part of the launch of the new Huawei Pura lineup. The core concept remains unchanged: it's a "2-in-1" hybrid where a full pair of wireless earbuds is concealed inside a smartwatch case. To access them, users simply press a button, which slightly opens the top of the case to reveal the earbud compartment.
The new model retains the familiar aesthetic, featuring a brown leather strap with pronounced stitching and a metal frame around the case perimeter. The earbuds themselves remain compact with an unusual shape, closer to cylindrical or bullet-like. As with the previous version, they are universal and not designated as left or right.
The first version employed a complex internal design that allowed two devices to fit into a single case without major compromises. Despite their miniature size, the earbuds supported AI-powered noise cancellation during calls. Meanwhile, the watch functioned as a full-featured fitness tracker, offering over 80 sports modes and up to 30 hours of battery life.
Huawei is expected to enhance key specifications in the second generation, though exact details remain under wraps. The price is also still unknown, but for reference, the original Watch Buds were priced at 2,988 yuan. All specifics will be revealed on April 20, when it becomes clear whether Huawei has successfully refined its unconventional concept into a viable mass-market product.
