OPPO is preparing to expand beyond smartphones with the development of its own handheld gimbal camera. According to leaks, the device, codenamed Fuyao, will directly compete with the popular DJI Osmo Pocket line and the upcoming Insta360 Luna Ultra. The new product is expected to launch toward the end of 2026.

Early reports suggest Fuyao will feature a three-axis stabilization system and a compact body aimed at bloggers and content creators. OPPO will likely leverage its expertise in mobile photography and image processing algorithms to create a hybrid that bridges smartphone capabilities with specialized camera functions.

Technical specifications remain unknown at this stage, but the mere idea of entering this market highlights increasing competition. DJI has long dominated the portable stabilized camera segment, but it now faces pressure from several major players.

In addition to OPPO, Insta360 is actively entering the market with its Luna Ultra model, and Vivo has also shown interest in similar devices. As a result, 2026 could be a pivotal year for the compact gimbal camera category, where the battle for user attention is set to intensify significantly.
