Huawei has unveiled two wearable devices that couldn't be more different in spirit: the innovative Watch Buds 2 and the premium Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition.
The Watch Buds 2 continues one of the market's most unusual concepts. Inside the watch case hides a pair of wireless earbuds; simply open the top part of the dial, and they're ready to use. This format eliminates the need to carry a separate case, as the watch doubles as a charging case.
The familiar design remains: the earbuds are secured inside with magnets and charge automatically. They don't have a designated left or right side—the system detects their position in the ear and switches channels accordingly. Huawei has refined the aesthetics, giving the case a more premium look with titanium versions and leather or metal straps.
The company claims improved sound quality, more stable connectivity, and optimized charging. However, the compromise persists: because the earbuds are housed inside, the battery capacity is limited compared to standard smartwatches.
At the opposite end of the lineup is the Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition. This model is less about functionality and more about status and appearance. The watch features decorative elements with diamonds, a redesigned case, and a more "jewelry-like" design.
If the Watch Buds 2 is about practicality and versatility, the Ultimate Diamond Edition is about premium materials and image. The price reflects this: the luxury version starts at around 23,999 yuan in China, while the Watch Buds 2 remains a more accessible, yet still premium, device.
Overall, Huawei is targeting two distinct scenarios: the technological convenience of an "all-in-one" gadget and a high-end accessory focused on visual impact.
