Apple CarPlay now supports Apple Sports widget for real-time scores

Apple has expanded CarPlay's capabilities by adding support for a widget from the Apple Sports app. This allows drivers to track match results and tournament data directly on their car's screen without needing to check their smartphones. The feature is part of an update that users have been anticipating for some time. The widget enables following favorite teams and leagues, displaying live scores in real time. However, in practice, data updates in CarPlay arrive with noticeable delays, while on the iPhone information appears almost instantly, especially when using Live Activity.

Additional features are available for specific sports. For example, when tracking Formula 1 races, users can see weather conditions and track temperature. This update is particularly relevant with major tournaments approaching, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite this new addition, functionality remains somewhat limited. Customization options depend on the car's screen, and in some cases only one widget is displayed, which reduces convenience. Against this backdrop, Apple Sports still trails competitors in update speed and information volume, but the company is gradually developing its ecosystem, including CarPlay.
