Optoma has unveiled its new flagship projector, the HCPro-5400, targeting high-end home theaters. The device stands out primarily for its brightness, with a claimed 5000 lumens that far exceed the needs of traditional darkened rooms. This reflects the current trend of using projectors in more illuminated spaces.

The model features native 4K resolution and a triple-laser RGB system, delivering a wide color gamut covering up to 96% of the BT.2020 color space. Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced, and Filmmaker modes indicates a push to create a highly cinematic experience with flexible settings for various viewing scenarios.

From a practical standpoint, the projector offers enhanced installation options, including motorized optics, 1.6x zoom, and lens shift. Its projection range allows for images up to 300 inches. The laser light source is rated for a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours, positioning the device as a long-term solution for home cinema setups.

Additionally, the HCPro-5400 is marketed as a gamer-friendly option due to its low input lag and support for modern gaming features. Priced around $8,000, it remains a niche product, delivering top-tier specifications for those willing to invest in premium image quality.
