Google has officially acknowledged a serious bug in the Samsung Galaxy XR headset that causes it to freeze after just 20–30 minutes of use. The issue is a memory leak that gradually loads down the device and sharply degrades performance.

The glitch appeared after the April update and is especially noticeable when playing PC VR games, but it also affects other functions. Users report severe frame rate drops and stuttering, which turn VR immersion into a slide show—in some cases requiring a reboot every half hour.

The community raised the alarm, prompting Google to investigate and confirm the critical memory leak. A team representative said a fix is a priority and will be rolled out to all users, although no specific timeline has been given.

Despite the technical glitch, the Galaxy XR remains one of the most advanced devices on the Android XR platform. However, this situation clearly shows that even powerful hardware and cutting-edge tech are no help if the software isn’t stable.

For now users must simply wait for the update, which should restore normal performance and eliminate the constant freezing.
