New details about the OnePlus 16 have surfaced online. The device is rumored to launch in China as early as October and is expected to deliver a significant leap over its predecessor, particularly in display and performance.

According to leaks, the smartphone will feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPO display made by BOE with 1.5K resolution. The panel uses LIPO technology, which should make bezels virtually invisible at around 1 mm on all sides. The refresh rate could exceed 185 Hz, and in the highest configuration, it might reach 240 Hz, positioning the screen as one of the fastest on the market.

There is also talk of a dedicated touch input processing chip and support for the BT.2020 color space, bringing the display to true flagship standards.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 16 is expected to pack the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset with LPDDR6 RAM support. The phone is set to compete with other top-tier models, including the upcoming iQOO 16.

Cameras will see upgrades too: a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 200 MP periscope telephoto. The battery also stands out, with rumors pointing to a capacity of up to 9,000 mAh.

The device will likely run OxygenOS 17 based on Android 17. The base version is expected to offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, with a price of around 5,000 yuan (~$730).
