MediaTek unveils Dimensity 7450 and 7450X chipsets for mid-range and foldable devices

MediaTek has expanded its mobile processor lineup with the launch of the new Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X chipsets. The new chips have appeared on the official website and target mid-range and upper mid-range devices, including future smartphones and foldables.

Both processors are built on a 4nm process and feature an octa-core architecture: four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked up to 2.6 GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. Graphics are handled by a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, which delivers stable performance in gaming and multimedia tasks.

Artificial intelligence capabilities get a special highlight. The chips include a sixth-generation neural processing unit, which MediaTek claims offers up to a 7% performance boost over previous solutions. This improves camera operation, image processing, and other on-device AI applications.

For gamers, the chips support HyperEngine and Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0, which dynamically balance performance and power consumption. There is also support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G with download speeds up to 3.27 Gbps.

In terms of cameras, the chipsets support sensors up to 200 MP thanks to the Imagiq 950 ISP, along with 4K HDR video recording, noise reduction, and the Ultra HDR format. Display capabilities include WFHD+ at 120 Hz and Full HD+ up to 144 Hz.

Both chips work with LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM (up to 6,400 Mbps), as well as UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring fast system and app performance.

The main difference with the 7450X version is its optimization for foldable devices. The chip supports dual displays, making it a better fit for clamshell form-factor smartphones. Rumors suggest it may debut in the Motorola Razr 70.

Overall, the Dimensity 7450 targets traditional smartphones with a focus on gaming and multimedia, while the 7450X is aimed at the emerging foldable segment, where support for two screens and flexible usage scenarios are key.
