Lisuan Tech has made a significant move in the global semiconductor industry, becoming just the fourth GPU manufacturer to receive official Microsoft WHQL certification. Previously, only NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel held this status.
This is a landmark event for the Chinese market: for the first time, a local GPU developer has obtained full validation of driver compatibility with the Windows ecosystem at the Microsoft level. WHQL certification means the drivers have passed stringent tests for stability, security, and compatibility, and can be distributed via Windows Update without additional system prompts.
The company's flagship product is the LX 7G100 graphics card, the first gaming GPU in the eXtreme LX line, built on a 6nm process. Preliminary data suggests its performance is on par with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, making it potentially competitive in the mainstream gaming segment.
Alongside it, the lineup includes the LX Max, LX Ultra, and LX Pro, aimed at professional tasks such as workstations and server computing. However, the 7G100 is the key product that opens the door for Lisuan Tech to enter the gaming market.
Historically, Chinese GPU manufacturers, including other local firms, have struggled with software ecosystem issues. Even with respectable hardware, weak drivers and limited compatibility hurt real-world performance. Securing WHQL certification shows that Lisuan Tech has made significant progress on the software side, which has long been its weak point. Now the company's drivers are officially approved for Windows, effectively making them part of the standard OS ecosystem. This also paves the way for easier distribution and potential expansion beyond China's domestic market.
There is no confirmation of an international release yet, but the mere fact of obtaining WHQL is already seen as an important signal: Chinese GPUs are gradually beginning to compete not only at the hardware level but also in software integration.
