Canon is readying a new full-frame camera, the EOS R6 V, with a strong focus on video. According to leaked information, the official announcement will take place on May 13, 2026, and the price is expected to be lower than that of the EOS R6 III. In Europe, the new model could cost around €2,549, while in the U.S. it is likely to be priced at about $2,499.
Visually, the Canon EOS R6 V is said to resemble an enlarged EOS R50 V, but technically it will be closer to the EOS R6 III. It is expected to share the same 32.5-megapixel full-frame sensor with an ISO range of 50 to 102,400. The key difference is that the new model is designed for extended video recording.
To manage heat, Canon is rumored to include an active cooling fan in the EOS R6 V. This would allow the camera to shoot 7K RAW video at up to 60 fps, making it more appealing to videographers and content creators. To keep the price and body size down, the manufacturer may omit the electronic viewfinder and mechanical focal-plane shutter.
Instead of a viewfinder, users will get a 3-inch screen with a resolution of 1.62 million dots. The camera will use the same LP-E6P battery as the EOS R6 III, but it will be significantly lighter at around 598 grams, 101 grams less than the older model. Alongside the camera, Canon may also introduce a new BR-E2 remote control, details of which are still under wraps.
