Xiaomi appears to be advancing its own ARM-based chips, with new leaks pointing to a processor codenamed Xring O3. The upcoming SoC, spotted in HyperOS code, would succeed the chip inside the Xiaomi 15S Pro and is tipped for a 2026 launch alongside future Xiaomi devices, including a new foldable phone.

The move into custom silicon marked a significant shift for Xiaomi, putting it in more direct competition with Qualcomm and MediaTek. While the company is unlikely to drop Snapdragon from its volume models, the Xring O3 signals that the in-house platform isn’t just a one-time experiment. Xiaomi appears committed to developing its own chip designs for selected flagship devices.

The next Xiaomi foldable is widely seen as the most likely candidate for the Xring O3. Whether it launches as the Mix Fold 5 or the Xiaomi 17 Fold remains unclear, but it is already being positioned as a rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8. If the leak holds true, this device will be a high-profile showcase for the new processor.

HyperOS code suggests the Xring O3 will use an updated architecture with substantially higher clock speeds. A prime core is listed at up to 4.05 GHz—roughly a 4% bump over its predecessor—while a Titanium core reaches 3.42 GHz. The efficiency cores get an even bigger boost, climbing to 3 GHz from just 1.79 GHz previously.

On the graphics side, the GPU is also set for a speed upgrade. Preliminary data points to a frequency jump from 1.2 GHz to 1.49 GHz, which could deliver a near-25% performance gain under comparable conditions. It’s not yet known which ARM core generation or cluster arrangement Xiaomi will pick, but the current Lumex architecture with C1 Ultra and C1 Pro cores is a likely candidate.

If the rumored specs hold up, the Xring O3 represents a meaningful step in Xiaomi’s push toward greater independence from external chip suppliers. The SoC won’t replace Snapdragon across the entire lineup, but it can reinforce the brand’s standing in the premium segment and make its upcoming foldable flagship far more compelling alongside the competition.
