The security issue with the PlayStation Network, which became a hot topic back in late 2025, appears to still be unresolved. It was discovered then that attackers could access other people's accounts even with two-factor authentication and a strong password. The main reason is tied to the identity verification process through PlayStation support, where only a transaction number is needed to regain access.
Now the situation has escalated. Journalist Nicolas Lellouche from Numerama reported that his account was hacked again several months after the first incident. He wrote on X that his PlayStation account, whose hack made headlines worldwide and which Sony still hasn't fixed, was compromised once more last night.
After the first incident, Sony reportedly only marked the account as a high-risk account, meaning support staff would not intervene without additional verification. But that wasn't enough. According to the journalist, the new attacker operated differently from the previous hacker, which only heightened concerns. This suggests the problem isn't tied to a specific individual and could affect nearly any PlayStation Network user.
Against this backdrop, PlayStation users are once again advised not to share purchase data or screenshots containing transaction information, as even minimal details may be used to hijack an account and its digital library.
