Samsung has rolled out an update to its Device Care app, version 13.8.80.7, that introduces a new defense against apps clogging the notification panel with ads. These apps can now be automatically sent into deep sleep mode, so they won't keep bothering the user.

The feature relies on two mechanisms: a baseline list of apps Samsung deems likely to push aggressive ads, and intelligent analysis of notification patterns. When the system spots an unusually high volume of ad notifications, it can automatically restrict the app or put it into deep sleep.

Samsung notes that this detection isn't always perfect, so mistakes and false alarms could happen.

The feature is part of Device Care, which is baked into One UI. For now, it's only available in One UI 8.5 and will be rolling out gradually in the coming weeks.
